Nearly a decade ago, when Java was still a fledgling portable software platform and the Tumbling Duke applet was considered cutting edge, the members of the newly minted Swing team, including yours truly, took in a packed JavaOne session given by Sun's JavaSoft president, Alan Baratz. He told the assembled multitude that our team would be delivering a new GUI toolkit in just 90 days.
